Marisa and Doug’s wedding at a private estate nestled in the pretty mountains of upstate New York, had a dream team, a dream setting, a dream dog and a dream couple. I mean….look at them! Marisa is a meticulous planner. Everything was scheduled just so with Color Pop Events, and I appreciated Marisa’s attention to detail, especially, in saving each piece of paper they created for their wedding weekend. Their save the date, invitation, table numbers, menu and more made the above photo top notch! They’ll forever remember what they sent their guests to set the tone of their wonderful weekend.
Marisa also selected some great things for me to utilize in images like a blue Asian painted plate. It was perfect for some ring shots! And I warn you: every image of Marisa’s gown both on a hanger and on her are just breathtaking. It fit her perfectly, both in cut and personality. Aren’t her wedding wedges amazing? Leather with tulle ties (which I suspect was part of what was cut in her dress alterations) I loved that they were both practically for a wedding that took place on grass and stylish. Sachi Rose Designs created a pretty floral comb for Marisa’s mother to place in her french twist up-do.
I LOVE the cashmere robes Marisa gifts to her four bridesmaids! I know they’ll use them forever. (Hmmm…I may need to buy one too!)
Not one to overlook details either, Doug had floral patterned cufflinks to match his tie. He is SUCH a sneaker guy – I was surprised that he wasn’t wearing sneakers down the aisle….until I saw his socks had sneakers on them! Such a smart solution. He also gave his groomsmen blue Nikes.
The front porch of the main home at Southwood Estate reminded me of the south (love!) and it was perfect for bridesmaids portraits. There’s something so beautifully light and airy about her bridesmaids dressing in cream and very faint blush tones for an end-of-summer wedding.
I nearly fainted after this photo was taken – I INSTANTLY knew it was incredible. Doesn’t Marisa look like a goddess? That braid, too!
Misha is a star. Truly. She was a trooper at their engagement session a few months back and it watching her freely roam the estate property was just so cute. She even made it to the dance floor during their reception.
Sachi really knocked it out of the park on all their florals. The oranges, blues and greens, mix of anemones, berries and ranunculus, and use of ferns, dahlias, white flowering freesia and Italian ruscus were enough to make anyone swoon. I love the blue ribbon she ties the boutonnieres with too.
Picturesque lakeside ceremony location? Check!
Marisa and Doug opted not to do a first look; I love this photo of them holding hands but not peeking before the “I dos…”
A ceremony officiated by their good friend, Keil, and a signing of the marriage license later…it was official! Time for photos of this adorable duo…
Marisa and Doug opted to honor Marisa’s Asian heritage with a Chinese tea ceremony just before cocktail hour. The ring shot above is on an envelope a friend hand calligraphed. It says, “McCormick,” Doug’s last name, in Chinese.
I loved their mirror seating chart. Isn’t it so unique!? It beautifully reflected the surrounding trees and greenery just so…
The tables had white linens, gold tipped glasses, navy blue napkins, mercury glass votives, awesome gold table numbers in simple white frames, and wax-seal Chinese-character stamped place cards. The centerpieces on each table were slightly different as were the vintage plates at each setting.
As the sun set over the lake (and man, was it gorgeous!) the music was turned up, toasts were given, and everyone got down on the dance floor…
A personal favorite, of course, is always a tasty Momofuku Milk Bar cake, the inventors of the “exposed naked cake” trend. They opted for carrot cake with a dessert bar of pies and tartlets and fresh made cookie ice cream sandwiches from their food truck caterers. Cheers to a sweet future, indeed!
Congratulations, to the beautiful, smiley, shining couple!
