INTERESTED IN WORKING WITH MIKKEL?
DON'T HESITATE TO REACH OUT.
Annie and Vince immediately come to mind when I think of kind hearted people I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I cherish how this couple’s always in awe of the people and beauty surrounding them and their gratitude shines through their loving eyes and big smiles. They said “I do” in a downtown Raleigh ceremony at their church and partied all night with their family and friends just a short drive away at The Pavilion at Angus Barn. The weather cooperated for some seriously gorgeous images and I’m so excited to reveal them to everyone!
All of the details of Annie and Vince’s day were so gentle and sweet, just like the bride. I loved the grey and gold invitation – it was so classy and I’m a lover of awesome paper and simple, clean design! They really “threaded the needle,” as they say, all the way through the wedding. They used the same “K” monogram wax seal on their menu that Annie placed on her bridal gown hanger to hang her gorgeous lace gown designed by Justin Alexander. The ribbons they used throughout the day – included on their bouquets and wedding programs – were the perfect compliment to the dusty rose tone of the bridesmaids various chiffon Jenny Yoo gowns. They looked so cute in their floral robes Annie got them, surrounding her on her wedding day.
Annie opted for comfort with her shiny bridal sandals. Sharks were a fun little detail too: the bride wore earrings Vince got her on a beach vacation to get ready and changed into sparkly J Crew earrings for the rest of the day. Annie also wore her maternal grandmother’s gold bracelet and paternal grandmother’s beautiful diamond engagement ring. Her sister and Matron of Honor, Liza, helped place her gold cross necklace on her neck as a finishing detail for the day. Vince had a little bling too – he wore playful shark cufflinks, which Annie gifted to him their first Christmas together.
They had a lovely full-mass ceremony downtown, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, where Annie had her great grandmother’s A-monogrammed heirloom handkerchief nearby (who was also named Annie!). The church’s quaint, beautiful interior is topped with a pretty blue sky and gold star painted ceiling. Of course a highlight’s always the first official kiss as husband and wife! We topped off a great ceremony with some special photos of the newlyweds at the state’s capitol building.
I love the photos of them in front of the stone church – I keep singing, “Going to the chapel…” in my head! When we were at The Pavilion at Angus Barn, where their celebration took place, we were lucky enough to have the sun hide behind clouds long enough to get this stunning photo in front of the lake. The wedding party was looking mighty fine with the groomsmen in grey tuxedos and bridesmaids looking pretty in pink. Meristem Floral created a feminine floral crown for Annie to wear the rest of the evening after she took off her cathedral length veil.
I’m in HEAVEN looking at the oodles of ribbons on these stunning bouquets! It’s such a blessing that such gorgeous peonies were in season too. They really add to the beauty of Meristem Floral’s creations. The whole day was a dream – and it looked like one too, especially in this photo of them near the lake.
The men wore boutonnieres with a large white ranunculus and a sprig of Lily of the Valley tied with a grey velvet ribbon. As their family and friends continued to arrive at their reception and the bridal party walked to the cocktail hour, guests found their table numbers affixed to copper mugs, engraved on the bottom with the bride and groom’s wedding date and names. They doubled as favors for the guests.
Having an all-white cake doesn’t necessarily mean it’s plain and simple. Ashley Cakes knocked it out of the park – two layers of the cake were reminiscent of a lace pattern, another was piped in white swiss dots and the most outstanding was adorned with a gold “K” monogram that matched their wax seal. It was decorated with flowers as the proverbial icing on the cake.
The room was stunning and twinkling in custom lighting. The farm tables from Cottage Luxe were drenched in candlelight and eucalyptus garland. Special gold table numbers were held up by gold ceramic succulents. Their sweetheart table was a favorite detail – Annie and her father built it together (along with their custom corn hole pained gold and grey) and their vendors worked together to provide special his and her chairs, topped with flowers and script Mr. and Mrs. signs. They had two signature cocktails at their wedding: a VIP (Vodka Infused Pineapple) and Southern Belle (champagne mojito).
The tent leading into the reception table area had two chandeliers inside and fantastic green garland winding up the structure. High top tables for the cocktail hour had two linens, a sand colored knit tied with ivy and a grey and white strip towards the game area. Bridesmaids bouquets served as additional flowers during the reception placed in mercury vases. Guests could enjoy the exterior property during the reception too; guests could enjoy creating s’mores or simply relax and sit by the fire with friends. The live band, The New Royals, played on inside and everyone danced up a storm!
Of course the wedding ended how any fabulous southern wedding does, with a bright sparkler exit. I can’t end the post without mentioning something so rockstar of them I’m still floored they pulled it off: we stopped at CHIPOTLE after the church on the way to the reception so these two Chipotle fans could indulge in a Burrito Bowl moment and reminisce about one of their first dates there. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Kunes! Between your engagement session and the wedding, and everything in between, you were a joy to work with and I’m lucky to know you.
