When Love Inc. Mag and Color Pop Events asked me if I’d like to join the team for a Palm Springs wedding photos and ideas inspired shoot in Brooklyn, my answer was an empathic, “YES!” The venue is part of the same group that comprises the Green Building and 501 Union, both venues with Gowanus Hospitality Group. The Sky Gallery doesn’t exist anymore but the great news is their two other venues, just down the block, do and are fabulous! This look can be achieved at either.
Palm Springs is such a fun area in California! It’s just a few hours drive from Los Angeles and San Diego and is a very popular vacation destination. The vibe of Palm Springs is colorful and sunny. Palm trees and cacti abound in the desert climate and mid-century modern design is everywhere. Cocktails are plentiful and treats abound thus our Palm Springs wedding photos inspiration shoot reflected all that goodness and then some!
We loved choosing a same sex, gay couple for our invitation focus. An incredibly unique, black laser cut belly band had the couple’s initials in the center. (A belly band is a great way to hold many elements of your invitation suite together.) A mix of geometric designs and photographic palm tree prints were harmoniously intertwined in the design. Our Palm Springs wedding photos color palette included a mix of turquoise, orange, grey, pink and gold. This was repeated in all the elements of the wedding from the cake to plates and dessert backdrop. The black grid chairs were very Palm Springs and mid-century modern! A grey table linen and napkins had a very slight shimmer to add interest. Six tapered candles in two colors of pink popped in black glass holders. The perfect elements to compliment a stunning centerpiece were two cactus plans and gold pineapples. The place settings for these Palm Springs wedding photos near 501 Union and the Green Building had black dinner plates topped with mid-century modern salad plates. A succulent served as the place card holder at each seat with a design to match the entire paper suite.
I absolutely LOVE sweet pea flowers – imagine my delight when I noticed the abundance of coral sweet pea flowers in the arrangement! Other flowers that Sachi Rose Design included in this beautiful piece were King Protea, hot pink peonies, yellow irises, blush ranunculus, air plants and succulents. A real focal point of the flowers was the tropical coral Anthurium flower with a yellow stamen.
The dessert table’s centerpiece was a three-tier neon colored cake with gold fondant triangles. The pineapple cake topper was the perfect element to tie in part of the grooms’ attire; they wore mini-pineapple boutonnieres there were simply too cute for words! Chocolates were splatter painted with hot pink and blue colors and vibrant meringue twists rounded out the options.
Every good party needs a great signature cocktail! Purslane catering made a delicious California inspired drink for our Palm Springs wedding photos shoot. Lucky for all of us they were nice enough to share the recipe!
Wouldn’t you want a place at this table? We would! Palm Springs inspiration is great no matter if you’re actually in the city on the west coast, or somewhere like 501 Union or the Green Building, where we did the shoot, in Brooklyn on the east coast in NYC!
