I absolutely LOVE color. There were a few amazing mural/graffiti walls around downtown Raleigh I had been dying to utilize as backdrops for an awesome couple. I suggested a plan to go around the area and hit up a few colorful areas and then something very “downtown” since it’s the first area they lived in when they moved to North Carolina.
I don’t always think black’s a great option for an engagement session, however, Rachel bought a black dress and I agreed it would be great for this situation – the contrast of her dress against the vibrancy of the art made a great statement. And her and David look awesome. 🙂 Plus she wore white on their wedding day so it was a fun opposite situation!
How cute is that comic-character wall? I love that it’s black and white but the expressions on those cuties (including Rachel and David!) amp up the character of an otherwise minimal palette wall.
They were also craving some urban environments (how could you not in downtown Raleigh) so we walked around the warehouse district to take advantage of some hard core building materials: bricks, steel and concrete. Simple platforms, parking lot barriers and bridges have never looked so good…
How freaking rad is this shoot? I love it. And I’m grateful to A Southern Soiree for hooking me up with these too. They did an amazing job planning Rachel and David’s wedding – it was stunning!
