An unexpected location in Red Hook, Brooklyn New York set the scene for a romantic, candle-light dinner to toast the wedding weekend of Rachel and Joe. I was in awe of the space when I walked in. It was like I walked into a family dinner in the middle of a Restoration Hardware shoot. Was I dreaming?! The dinner was well underway and I was excited to capture all of the spaces many details and everyone’s heartfelt smiles, hugs and speeches to the bride and groom, who would we the next day at Prospect Park Boathouse in Brooklyn as well.
I absolutely loved the abundance of romantic candlelight everywhere. The wax dripped on the candlesticks was so beautiful and truly added to the ambience of the space. Vintage suitcases and wooden trunks and barrels filled in spaces between white linen sofas, black leather chairs and art stools. Metal accents in both the architecture and decorating was a nod to this venue’s warehouse days.
I loved capturing this candid moment between Rachel and her grandfather, right after dinner and some thoughtful speeches were complete, before a beautiful fresh dessert display was set out. Additional friends and family were invited to Atelier Roquette after the main, small dinner. Guests munched on charcuterie plates of dried apricots, nuts, and wonderful cheeses and drank wine, sangria and beer.
The sunset that evening was spectacular! Pinks and purples lined the sky, which was the perfect backdrop for the wonderful outdoor patio space with bistro lighting above. It was the best way to kick off a fabulous wedding weekend that would continue the next day with Rachel and Joe’s wedding ceremony and reception!
